Employment
Services

Employment Specialists work closely on a one-to-one basis to help build a plan to unlock your future and where you may want to go. If you have not worked for a while, or if this is your first job search, we can help you. Once on the job, our team can assist you and support your training for as long as is necessary to develop natural support in the workplace. We work with local school districts on student transition to provide work-based learning opportunities that will help you to identify and attain your career goals. These opportunities are explored through site visits, job shadowing and even paid internships.

We start with job readiness, and you learn how to highlight any previous work or volunteer experiences, explore career options, proper resume writing, and preparing for job interviews by practicing individual skills such as presenting yourself on the phone, via email, or in person. In addition, you will learn “best” practices for keeping to a job schedule, taking directions from your supervisor and getting along with your co-workers.

Rest Area Maintenance (RAM)

VIP Services participates in the roadside facilities program, managing all of the rest areas in Walworth and Rock counties. The WisDOT program has been in existence since 1987 and places an emphasis on providing work opportunities to individuals with varied abilities. WisDOT’s Bureau of Highway Maintenance (BHM) manages the 133 sites and the 22 service providers responsible for the sites. VIP places Site Supervisor/Job Coaches and a team of crew members on each site that we are responsible for. Approximately 70% of the crew employed by VIP for this program has some level of disability.
